no-OS is, by default, licensed under BSD-3-Clause (below). Individual files may be under other terms, stated by the SPDX tag in each file's header; COPYING, the LICENSES/ directory and doc/sphinx/source/license_rules.rst describe them.

COPYING

no-OS is provided, by default, under the permissive:

	SPDX-License-Identifier: BSD-3-Clause

as found in LICENSES/preferred/BSD-3-Clause (the repository's canonical
copy, with the Analog Devices copyright line, is LICENSE_BSD).

In addition, other licenses apply to specific files and directory trees.
The authoritative license for any file is the one declared in that file's
own header (an SPDX-License-Identifier tag or a license header).

The full text of every license used by Analog Devices' own no-OS code is
collected under LICENSES/, grouped by role:

LICENSES/preferred/ licenses to use for new code
LICENSES/permissive/ permissive, allowed, but not the default
	LICENSES/proprietary/ vendor device APIs; non-permissive

Third-party libraries are fetched at configure time into libraries/;
each carries its own LICENSE / COPYING file in its directory.

For how licenses are declared and the repository-local LicenseRef-
identifiers used for proprietary vendor device-API code, see:

	doc/sphinx/source/license_rules.rst

The mere aggregation of these files (putting them side by side in one
source repository) does not create a single master license for all of
them. When you build a project that combines files, it is up to you to
ensure the individual licenses are compatible. Some proprietary ADI
vendor-API trees forbid combination with incompatible code outright, and
you may not distribute a binary that violates the terms of any file it
includes.

Nothing in this file restricts, limits, or supersedes the license terms of
any particular file.
